LGE's Andrew Oh the first Asian to be awarded an annual MAA Worldwide Globes Awards

LG Electronics' Andrew Oh the first Asian to be awarded recognition as International Marketer of the Year at the fifth annual MAA Worldwide Globes Awards

(Seoul, Korea– October 26, 2004): Mr. Andrew Oh (30, Global Brand Manger for Telecommunications Equipment & Handset manufacturer, LG Electronics) has received the honor of the 2004 International Marketer of the Year award at the fifth annual GLOBES Awards for the Marketing Agencies Association (MAA) Worldwide. The event took place in Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort in Aventura, Florida, USA on October 26. He is both the first Asian and the youngest individual to have received this honor.

Mr. Oh's accomplishments include increasing global corporate profile and promoting related sports industries that had not been attractive to the sports marketing industry prior to LG's sponsorship. He achieved these results through planning and executing the LG Action Sports Championships, which is now considered to be the Olympics of the extreme sports industry. He further utilized this area as a new and powerful global marketing platform for LG Electronics by engaging the extreme sports spirit as part of the LG mobile brand personality. Since 2003, LG Electronics has been the title sponsor of LG ASC, a truly global competition between extreme sports professional athletes and has thus successfully and effectively promoted its brand to audiences of millions in 180 countries in a short period of time.

The second LG ASC established the event as a cornerstone for reputable and influential action sports and LG Electronics decided to expand efforts to a truly global level as a strategically important marketing platform by hosting qualifying events in the USA, Asia, Latin America and Europe.

Mr. Oh commented, "I have been very happy to deliver LG mobile's innovative, cutting-edge, inspiring, challenging, young and dynamic brand personality to the global target group through LG ASC sponsorship. I am honored to receive this award from the MAA Worldwide and thank LG ASC for the opportunity. I must forward this trophy on to the executives at LG Electronics, ASA Event and East Marketing, as they showed full support in successful completion of this event."

" I hope this award may contribute to a shift in Korean companies' mindset on sports sponsorship, from limited sports such as golf and soccer to various sports that can be connected to the desired brand image", he commented.

Mr. Neil Contess, President of MAA Worldwide said, "Andrew H. Oh, international marketing manager for Korea-based LG Electronics, receives the 2004 International Marketer of the Year Award. This award goes to the individual who has impacted the marketing industry in a significant way either in his own country of residence or internationally. The award recipient must have a proven track record of personal and professional success. Oh's accomplishments include building a new and powerful global marketing platform for his company that is now utilized worldwide in all of LG's offices. Mr. Oh has truly earned this award with distinction"
The Be the Reds 2002 Korean World Cup Campaign was conducted by TBWA and was a great achievement in the history of the Korean marketing industry, taking the 2003 Grand Prix Best of the Best award.

LG ASC 2004 was successfully held on September 10-12 in the USA and LG Electronics is hosting qualifying tours for 2005 around the world. The LG Action Sports Asian Tour starts in Beijing and Shanghai, China on October 16-24 and the CYON Championships at COEX in Seoul, Korea on October 30-31.
